D-Day 80th Anniversary: Veterans Gather for Commemorative Ceremony

"We must never forget the brave men and women who fought for our freedom," Jones said. "Their sacrifice made it possible for us to live in peace today."

The D-Day Landings were a turning point in World War II and led to the eventual liberation of France and Europe from Nazi occupation. The battle was one of the largest amphibious invasions in history, and the Allied forces faced fierce opposition from the German troops.
