Cologne, Germany - Switzerland got off to a winning start in Euro 2024, edging out Hungary 2-1 in their Group A opener at Cologne's RheinEnergieStadion on Wednesday.

Kwadwo Duah opened the scoring for Switzerland in the 27th minute, before Michel Aebischer doubled their lead just before halftime. Hungary fought back in the second half, with Roland Sallai pulling a goal back in the 63rd minute. However, the Swiss held on for the victory, securing three points.

The win puts Switzerland at the top of Group A, while Hungary sits bottom with no points. Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, with Switzerland facing Turkey and Hungary taking on Italy.
