Friday Looks Like the Day: Official Lexus WSL Finals Forecast

WSL Forecaster Kevin Wallis shares insights into the official forecast for the men's and women's Lexus WSL Finals at Lower Trestles, California.

The men's and women's Lexus WSL Finals will commence on Thursday, September 8 and run through Sunday, September 18, featuring the top five men and top five women in the world.

The latest forecast from WSL forecaster Kevin Wallis is indicating that Friday is the most promising day for competition at Lower Trestles.

Wallis predicts 3-5' waves with light winds and clear conditions.

"The models are showing a potential swell for Friday, with 3-5' waves and light winds," Wallis said. "The winds will be out of the west-northwest, which is a favorable direction for Trestles."

If the swell does not arrive on Friday, Wallis said that Saturday is also a possibility, but the waves are likely to be smaller.

"Saturday is looking like a smaller day, with 2-4' waves," Wallis said. "The winds will be out of the west, which is still a good direction for Trestles, but not as good as the west-northwest."

Sunday is not looking as promising for competition, with Wallis predicting 1-3' waves and onshore winds.

"Sunday is looking like a smaller day, with 1-3' waves and onshore winds," Wallis said. "The winds will be out of the south, which is not a good direction for Trestles."

The WSL will make the final decision on whether or not to run the competition on each day based on the forecast and the conditions at the time.
