MUNICH, Germany (AP) — Host Germany made quite the statement of intent in the opening match of the tournament, hammering 10-man Scotland 5-1 on Friday.
Scotland fell to a heavy defeat against Germany in the opening match. Scotland wilted in the face of a scorching Germany performance as Steve Clarke's 10-man side opened the scoring but was ultimately outclassed by the hosts.
Germany hit the ground running in the opening game of EURO 2024 as Julian Nagelsmann's side put five past Scotland in a dominant display.
Antonio Rudiger's own goal got Scotland on the scoreboard in the 87th minute, cutting the lead to 4-1.
